Collagen Induction Therapy (or dermal rolling) is a clinic treatment which stimulates normal collagen production using a roller with stainless surgical steel needles. How collagen induction therapy works
Collagen induction therapy is a safe alternative to laser or dermabrasion. It causes no permanent epidermal damage.
A topical anaesthetic is applied to the skin prior to treatment. When the skin is needled it causes tiny micro breaks within the skin. The cells release a series of growth factors and proteins which promote the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. This happens at a microscopic level. Proliferated skin cells, such as fibroblasts, migrate to the point of injury and transform into collagen fibers, resulting in increased fibre strength and elasticity and a thicker tissue layer.
